What, pray tell, is this poll for?  Why is there always someone trying to
gather up information about others?  Isn't it enough that we all have
similar train interests?  Do we need to answer in detail about our habits?
Who wants this information?  Who needs this information?  What possible
interest could be served by knowing what I like about trains?

There is so much information gathering going on on the Internet by people we
don't even know that it is wonderful to come back home to a quiet spot, with
friends who don't have to be so nosy; people we can converse with at ease.
Imagine coming home and having your wife trying to sell you insurance and
your kids hocking you to test drive the new Nissan Maxima.  Isn't home where
you put your feet up and relax without all that noise?  I know TV intrudes,
but my personal relationships are not commercial ones.

I have an idea.  Let's have a moratorium on polls.  Let's see if we can go a
whole year without one.  Let's talk to each other like human beings instead
of like relevant statistics.

Conversation.  Now there's a novel concept.
