Something a little strange is going on at York. It was my understanding
that the rooms in the local hotels usually booked a year ahead a time,
by repeat customers. I have also heard of a waiting list you can get on,
so when someone drops out, you can get a room.

Why then, does it appear that there are still rooms available at the
both Holiday Inns, the Days Inn and Red Roof Inns? We just booked the
Days Inn that is around the corner from the Billy Bud for 7 days,
beginning Sunday, for only $54.95 a night. This was done through
Travelocity... The Days Inn web site also showed rooms, but at $116 per
night during the train show. (way more than $54.95! )

The Billy Bud I had booked a room for earlier this week online. When I
called there to question it, they said that I couldn't possibly have
booked a room "today", because they have been full for weeks. Then he
looked up the reservation and said I had a room.

It seems to me, that either the attendance for this meet is going to be
way down, or that the reservation systems of several motels is selling
each room, over and over again, like overbooking an airplane. I am a
little concerned...
