Oh, you want the answer! Ok. as to freight cars, yes, the S gauge
cars that had 3/16" scale 0 gauge ancestors are the same size as
those ancestors. On some, such as the sheet metal flats, #716 side-
dump hopper, and auto unloaders, the bolster was redesigned
(deepened) in the early '50s to accomodate sintered iron trucks.
Essentially though, the dies used were the same.
As to the passenger cars, I don't own any of the diecast metal
heavyweights, but I've seen them. They appear to be the same length
as the postwar plastic heavies. The bolsters of the prewar cars are
farther from the ends than those of the postwar cars. Sadly, the
sheet metal coaches were not carried into the postwar line, though it
is a simple conversion to fit prewar coaches with S gauge trucks.
