Ken,
I usually use the highest practical voltage bulb I can to reduce the heat
problem.
18 V bulbs are somewhat cooler on 14 V, little loss of light, conversely, on
Flyer steamers on DC power, I use lower voltage bulbs than called for because
the engine
runs so much better on DC, therefore requires less voltage to operate.
Confusing, huh??
