Our North Penn S Gaugers club has been running our modular layout with an 18B AC Gilbert transformer and a Kurtz Craft DC system. Lately the Gilbert AC has been overheating on the long hall and failed two weeks ago. Now we can run old Gilbert on DC but we also run AM and SHS engines with sound units. Last weekend I bought a Model Rectifier Dual control 270 watt unit. Some of the men are concerned that MRC's unit with an output of over 20 volts will fry their sound boards. What capacitors or resisters are best to hold the maximum AC output to 15 volts? What rectifiers are best to convert to DC when needed?
