On the home layout, the log loader spur has one rail which is shared by the
track circuit and the loader circuit. The power comes from two transformers
and thanks to the conductive isolation which most transformers provide,
neither circuit knows the other is there. The common rail is the one on
which the metal wheels of the log unloader car roll. The track circuit is
rectified to DC, switched for polarity reversing, and connected to the two
rails, The unloader/loader circuit runs from its own transformer (usually
a small AF transformer with a broken p;ointer knob or a badly grooved top
winding layer).
Transformers (except autotransformers are wonderful for isolating circuits
on the layout.
