Put together my first modular layout under and around the tree this year I had (4) 4 x
8 sheets 0f 1/2" plywood and ran 4 tracks as well as a bunch of accessories. Worked
well but looking to improve for next year. The layout is up 6 weeks a year before the
wife wants the living room back (we have no basements in Texas, and running trains in
a non air conditioned garage during summer is not an option)
On the plywood I laid down felt cloth to simulate snow and nailed my flyer track
down (mostly with roadbed)
Looking for some comments.
Ground covering- since this is put up around Christmas I want to stay with the
Christmas theme. I would like something a bit more realistic than my felt cloth but I
do need something durable as many areas need to be stepped on to assist errant trains.
Linking modules together-Track was secured in place except for a piece closest to
each edge. I would butt modules together and then connect the two pieces of loose
track (one on each module together) Any better ideas.
Controls- exclusivly flyer push buttons. They worked fine, but any other ideas.
I appreciate any feedback. Steve Roche
