Mt St Helens blew in 1980. Not long after that Dan Olson in Seattle put out a
"Mt St Helens hopper" There were grey painted or maybe unpainted 3 bay flyer
hoppers he had from the flyer closeout sale days. He had a black and red
image of the mountain blowing on the side with the date of eruption and
included a medicine type pill bottle full of actual ash with them. I have
seen the Flyer S and Lionel O varities he still has. I don't know how many he
made. I do know there were a number of "seconds" (10 or so) that had broken
steps and such that made their way to a now deceased friend of mine which he
assembled and sold. I think Dan sold these for something in the $18-$25 range
in the 80's.
