Boy am I behind. January 22?
I have had only one dealing with Lionel's repair department. I received a
tank car with a defective coupler. (The weight was missing.) I contacted
Lionel asking for a weight. They wanted to know if I wanted to do the
repair myself or have them do it. I have been repairing AF since the 1960s.
I thought I could do it. (The coupler was gripped, not that new riveting.)
I asked for a weight so I could epoxy it on.
They sent two, new complete couplers.
Pretty good service, in my book.

Subject: Flyonel problems
Have a question for those who have (a) purchased Flyonel and (b) who have
had problems with the equipment.
In trying to resolve the difficulties, how have you handled it?
Did you call, fax, email or write Lionel asking for corrections/replacement?
Or, did you just disassemble the unit on the kitchen table (thereby voiding
the warranty), then whine to the rest of us on the list about how bad this
"Lionel junk" is?
The one problem I had with a LAF was the paint on my Silver Flash A unit. I
contacted Lionel while it was still under warranty. They sent me another
unit. Wasn't quite satisfied with it either. So they sent me still another,
and it was perfect.
I considered that pretty good customer service.
Sure, it should have been perfect right out of the box, but the outcome was
the same.
Cheers :)
