Hi Mike, As a daily observer of this list and EBay, have noticed your crusade against your perceived wrong doing on EBay. Until EBay appeared, with pictures for me to look at, memories to recapture, and ultimately, an opportunity to build apon and recreate my childhood American Flyer collections, I was unable to find AF at all.
EBay, as life, has its share of people that we all find less than honorable, but for the most part I have found most people dealing on EBay to be both honest and friendly. EVERYONE who observes an auction has the opportunity to ask any specific questions pertaining to condition, missing parts, reproduced parts, etc. Most sellers will provide additional pictures if requested, so for the most part, any person before placing a bid has the opportunity to resolve any issues PRIOR placing a bid to purchase the piece. We all on this list from time to time, have a good laugh at a peticular auction placed on EBay, most can remember the "Mint" pieces that are broken beyond recognition, along with many other auctions that make one laugh at the descriptions. We are not the EBAY Police, so lighten up and enjoy the hobby that youve chosen. Learn all you can from EBay, IMHO, values are truely set there, not in the TM or Greenburg books we all have. Most importantly, a certain piece, regardless of its conditon, may have more of a value to an individual, more so than the books say its worth. I certainly wont tell you what you should or shouldnt pay for a piece you wish to add to your collection, or what it may be worth to you. The people on this list, along with myself, are happy to share our thoughts of value, but ultimately, the price paid is what the bidder feels it is worth to them.
