All,
This is in response to a query by John Eichmann. Our club organization is similar to
that of Eric Reis. We have no officers or dues. I function as the club coordinator
(basically, the secretary's job in a more formal setting). We try to get together at
least once a month, round robin at different members' homes. General meetings are to
disseminate S news, watch a train tape, play with the host's trains, have show 'n
tell, shoot the bull, etc. We do not produce a newsletter. We also have work
sessions that are usually more focused on a particular goal. I would say that the
club's energy has focused more in the last couple of years on construction of modules
to incoporate into our display layout that we take to train shows to promote S model
railroading. Individual members are responsible for financial underwriting and
storing their own modules. We all help with the construction phase (at least, the
basic initial stuff). We started out with 4 members going on 12 yea!
rs ago; today, we have 10 members, with 6-7 core active members. Although most of us
started out in AF, our interests range from collecting AF to scale operation. We are
currently upgrading our layout to standardize DCC operational capability. The club
does basically what the members are interested in; it is their organization. Hope
this helps.

'S'incerely,
Jay Mellon
