Thorin, et al:
Re: the Dennis Sautters Laser Horizons list, I presume these are plastic
sides intended to replace AM smoothsides in a kitbash?

If so, the problems with that are:
1.) Shortage of AM streamliners,
2.) High desirability of AM streamliners just as they are,
3.) High cost of said streamliners,
4.) Major kitbashing is major surgery, especially for us RTR and EZ-kit
guys,
5.) If it bashes any other RTR cars, all of the above still applies.

It seems to me that the sides are the toughest parts to make. Roof and
floor sections are nothing, really. If Dennis has made all of these sides
to work with the AM roof and floor combo, why not knock out some roofs
(rooves?) and floors? They're all the same anyway. Make a jillion of them
with some vestibule ends and put them out there, with the sides, as kits.
Don't worry about the trucks. AM will sell us all the Budd trucks we want.
I love passenger cars and I would go nuts for all those sleeper combinations
and club cars and such.

This plan will ADD to our rolling stock, not cut it apart. It will also
make Dennis Sautters a full time S-Scale manufacturer. Little bits and
pieces for the scale crowd is a nice hobby job, but hi-rail is where the
volume sales are.
