As I continue to attempt to get everything working I seem to have come across a major roadblock. My 19B transformer is not working, at least I don't think it is.
Upon pulling it out of the box, I noticed that the electrical cord was shot--it had become brittle and cracked. So I bought a simple extension cord, cut the non-plug end off and wired it into the transformer. I quickly put together a simple circle of track, attached the track clip and put the Hand Car on the track. I plugged in the transformer and that wonderful green light turned on. There was also a soft humming sound. But upon pushing the lever down there was no action with the Hand Car or the 290, which I tried later. There was no movement of the volts or amps needles on the transformer's gages either. I have never had a problem with this transformer so I hope it isn't dead. Frankly, it is one of my favorite pieces of equipment. I last used it seven years ago. Outside of getting myself a volt meter, does anyone have any ideas as to what to check out?
