A good number are asking me about what I have available for cleaning track.
I am posting this to both lists, because people from both are asking.
Sorry if this sounds like a commercial. Everyone wants optimum performance for
their trains with a minimum of effort. So lets see if I can be of help.
I sell a concentrated cleaner that is a lot better than your house hold cleaners.
It is in liquid form. It will clean up a lot of crud from your rails and everything
else in your train room. I am still amazed at how good this cleaner is.
It comes in a 32 oz. bottle. It will make 5 gallons. It can be used full strength
for hard to clean items. I use it all around the house and garage. So, it is not just
for trains.
Another item is for removing rust as well as polishing metals. It works great.
I have used it on AF and scale rails, my truck, kids rusty bicycles. etc.
This comes in a 16 oz bottle. one drop goes a long way.
Note: It really does remove rust. But I admit it won't remove thick rust like a
person might get on a car frame.
The other item is Wahl Clipper oil. After using the above to clean your rails apply

oil to keep your rail clean FOREVER. I have been using this for 20+ years. I think I
have applied it only twice in all these years. Two drops will do your whole layout.
One fellow rubbed down all his rail with the oil and wondered why his drivers were
slipping. He kinda over did it.
Another important side affect; This oil stops your wheels from electrical arcs at
rail and switch joints. You will be amazed at how slow you can run your train through
switches. The light flashing in your coaches will be eliminated.
