Hi,

On page 55 of the American Flyer Instruction Book, Gilbert says to "Clean the running
surface regularly with a fine sandpaper, then clean rails with a rag dampened with
NON-FLAMMABLE No.27 American Flyer Track Cleaning Fluid." On page 3 of the American
Flyer Service Kit Manual, there is a reference to using sanding sticks "for cleaning
the film from ...any parts of the rolling stock or track". I've also seen a reference
to using sandpaper to clean tracks in the "DO" section at the back of the Instruction
Book.

Hope this helps,
Tim Brown

I thought I should mention that; If you use sandpaper (no matter how fine)
or a wire wheel you are damaging the surface of your rails.
Last I knew AF rails are nickel plated which I don't think you want to remove.
