Hi Chuck,
Years of experience Chuck! Mostly with old car parts. Ford used Zinc and
Cadmium for bolts and switch covers, etc. some Erector set stuff is
nickeled, so it is possible some rails were, most most of the ACG track I've
seen doesn't have the right sheen to have been nickel, but does match the
finished found on early Ford cars. I didn't think about it, but it is also
likely that the track was made from sheets of tinned metal. Sheet metal can
be purchased pre-finished, and I suspect that is what ACG used, as it would
be much cheaper than plating after it is made into rails.
