I have a few pieces of "black rail" Gilbert track. Wish they had 
continued to make it that way.

You sure about that, David? Applying zinc to steel is usually 
called "galvanizing", and it leaves a mottled finish, as on metal 
trash cans. Cadmium? You may be correct, but where did that info come 
from? I'm curious... 8^o!!
