Lance,
I built my current layout three years ago using Gargraves
sectional track. I used both S-42 & S-54 sectional curves and I'm
quite pleased with the track. I also purchased their S-42 switches
and had problems with Flyer collector shoes jamming in the open frog.
I abandoned the switches and replaced them with American Flyer
switches. I used cork roadbed under the track and had to shim the
Flyer switches to mate to the track.

I recently call Gargraves to inquire into their availability of
their new S-72 switch. This switch will have a closed frog similiar
to the design American S Gauge (the folks in California) are using.
Also, the other news they shared with me, the dies they make their
section track with has been damaged beyond use. They will no longer
manufacture the sectional and they told me the market wasn't large
enoungh for the track to offset the cost of new tooling. They will
continue to manufacture the wooden tie flexible track and switches.
The S-72 switch should be available for sale in time for the York
train meet. By the way, Gargraves is in the Yellow Hall.

                                                       Lou Baldi

Hopefully newer K-line track pins are the same size as Flyer track
pins, but the K-line curved track I have has wider pins.

run better. You can pull a longer train with wide radius that with
tight radius.

comes in 42, 54, 63 and 72 inch radii. If I were building a hi-rail
layout, I would look at the wider radii they have--at least for
places where there is room. Everything looks and works so much better
on wide radius track that you kind of get attached to it.

work with flyer wheels. SHS track is a little closer to scale to
tempt the high railers. It is too bad they have to compete. It is
remarkable how many choices we have.
