For what it's worth: During quiet times (a.k.a. "lulls") on the PC at the office and at home, I peek at three *live* web cams for computer/Internet train watching in/near my home state of Illinois.
1.) A new site with the coolest web cam -- one you can aim and zoom yourself -- showing the original ATSF and CB&Q (now all BNSF) mainlines in Fort Madison, Iowa. Note the two antique & historic train depots as you pan right and the Santa Fe's cosmetically restored 2913, a magnificent 1943 Baldwin 4-8-4 steam locomotive in the park by the Mississippi River. Also far left in the distance [use the zoom] is the world's largest double-deck swingspan bridge at 525 feet over the river (About 60 trains per day): http://www.livetrains.com/site/snav/15/page.htm 2.)
