It is sometimes difficult to keep in mind that tastes and preferences vary amongst the brethren here.
The diesel roar is one of my very favorite Flyer features, one that is totally unique to Flyer. No other trains have anything like it. It has a nasty, angry, powerful "get out of the way, I'm coming thru" quality to it just like a real diesel. Plus, with a little careful handling of the transformer handle, you can get it to roar as/before the loco starts up, again, just like a real diesel. When you alternate that with a steam loco with a crisp resonant sound chamber barking chechecheche as it goes by, you have got something exciting going on! Railsounds and that other polite sounding digital stuff doesn't come close. Fuggedabodit.
