I believe that the concept was a device, contained in the little oval transformer case with a big button on top, that a child banged with a fist to stop and start a train. It had problems working with the 3 position reverse unit and elsewhere, so it was not produced.
Can I ask a question here? What is the fascination with this thing? What are you guys into, trains or oddball junk? The track torpedo never existed, but if it did, would it just make your day? Does it somehow enhance your railroading experience. Would you spend actual money to own one? You can make one in an hour's time. Look at the picture in the catalog. This can't be hard. Would you like me to make a dozen? Would you pay me a hundred bucks apiece for them? I'd be happy to do it. Anything to realize your fondest toy train dreams. Will there be any more to this track torpedo thread? Are there still countless wonderful stories of track torpedo usage in America's colorful past? Or are we done?
