Close. It was in "A.C.Gilbert's Heritage" by Heimburger House publishing, page 44 with a pic on 45. From the description of the 765 it was supposed to make a "bang" when a button was pushed. Two "bangs" slowed the train, three "bangs" stopped it. That was the intention, anyway. The picture shows what does indeed look like the small oval transformer case with two odd-looking buttons on top. It's interesting how much Gilbert was concerned with prototype sounds.
