Reddy was supposed to lead evidence before Coroner Nondumiso Simelane. He was reported not to have returned from sick leave. The last time the inquest sat, it was postponed because Reddy was on sick leave. Police officer Superintendent Mike Zwane told the coroner that he tried to contact Reddy on the contact details he had given to him, but the number was not available on the MTN network. Operation Zwane said Reddy had undergone an operation and he was given time to heal at home. Simelane postponed the inquest indefinitely until Reddy returned. She stated that she would wait for a word from government that Reddy had returned.
