Ha!  I just (well, a while back) did './sage -ba' and then
      ./sage -t devel/sage/sage/schemes/elliptic_curves/ 
monsky_washnitzer.py

All tests passed!  :-}

Go figure.  Maybe it's that metal plate in my head.
