I thought the new PARI doesn't work on Solaris.

It does not. The new Pari is totally broken on any sort of Solaris system.

In fact, you wrote on

I can confirm what John found on 't2.math' - this package is now
broken on Solaris 10 SPARC in at least 32-it mode.

Yes, and that is still valid.

I am certainly in favor of merging also other tickets in 4.6 besides PARI.

The Pari bug on Solaris must be fixed before Pari gets merged into 4.6.

Jeroen.

If

1) The Pari bug with Solaris is fixed before 4.6 is released. (That MUST happen otherwise Sage will not build).

2) #9735 is merged (it has positive review)

3) #9703 is merged (it awaits review)

then Sage 4.6 should build and pass all tests on Solaris 10 (SPARC), Solaris 10 (x86) and OpenSolaris. (All in 32-bit mode. 64-bit is still a problem on all those systems).

If the Pari/Solaris bug is not fixed, then Sage will simply not build on any form of Solaris.

I did send you an email over a matter related to this. Did you get it?

Dave
