A minor gain is that the package building would contain fewer steps (the
Sage buildbot would not be needed).

Indeed, a *_CORRECT_* packaging of sage would make things easier :
maintainers are valuable partners of upstreams -- filtering bugs
(keeping the packaging problems for themselves, opening a single
ticket/issue even though many users reported the same thing), providing
patches, catching issues beforehand...
