Just for this purpose (i.e. finding which axes are which), note that you 
can use the threejs viewer, which automatically labels the axes:

sage: from sage.plot.plot3d.plot3d import axes
sage: S = axes(6, 3)
sage: show(S, viewer='threejs')

The default names are (x,y,z), but you can change this:

sage: show(S, viewer='threejs', axes_labels=['a', 'b', 'c'])

Anyway, it will be nice to have colored axes.
