Fortunately sage.math.washington.edu is not
http://www.sagemath.org
which is where the main SAGE repository is. The only thing I can
think of that caused your problem is either you upgraded at exactly
the same moment that I posted the new SAGE yesterday, or the
internet is flaky. I would just try "sage -upgrade" again.
By the way, the latest gmp package is gmp-4.2.1.p9.spkg, so
that's what you should be getting.

export SAGE_SERVER=http://sage.apcocoa.org/
would make that your SAGE upgrade server for this session.
