Sage 5.2 has some new errors on 12.04 we are still trying to figure out. I
also think your problem is dependencies not 5.1.
How did you install? Source or Binary? If a source compile, did you check
that your build completed properly?

If you are in a hurry, try the PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~aims/+archive/sagemath
It is not specifically meant to work with the python-ldap stuff though.

I thought these were supposed to come with Sage, but do you have
python-openssl and python-crypto installed?
