I compiled from source. And no, I didn't check logs (where are they?) from
compiling; I expected compiling to stop if there is errors.

Let's see. Sage itself is working, problem is only with LDAP.
I thought these were supposed to come with Sage, but do you have
python-openssl and python-crypto installed?
Yes, they were installed.
To be sure, I deleted Sage, extracted .tar again and am now compiling
everything from scratch.
