For Ubuntu 18.04 you have several choices including - aptitude: apt install sagemath-jupyter - conda: conda install sagemath - binary: download from http://www.sagemath.org/download-linux.html then pick mirror, pick 64-bit, pick Sage 8.7 Ubuntu 18.04 - build from source
Using the binary from the SageMath download page will let you install extra packages, so you don't have to build from source. See http://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/installation/ for the prerequisites; there are some prerequisites for using SageMath installed from a binary, and more prerequisites if you want to build from source, the details are at http://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/installation/binary.html http://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/installation/source.html Also, can you say more about the optional package you are trying to install? Is it one of those listed at http://files.sagemath.org/spkg/upstream/ or is it online somewhere, or is it one you made yourself? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "sage-support" group.
