Thought I'd add my two pice bit....I'm riding along as careful and slowly as
ever and before I know it I am hit by a careless,drunk?speeding lunatic and my
head hits a coconut tree (not sure if many are left on the sides of the road ),
I would rather my head look like a coconut with a helmet on than being broken
open like one.

and by the way helmets do not only save lives they also do prevent serious head
injury.

now you should get the picture Albert. Helmets do
not prevent accidents but they sure save lives
when accidents do happen. I do not think we want
to hear arguments about this when we all know that
helmets save lives.

In 1983 when Chogum road was built,
i was one of the first to have met
with an accident there. (a few may
remember). fortunately for me i
still had my helmet on and believe
it or not it saved my life. My
advise to all the youngsters out
there - accidents don't tell and
happen, or could even be the fault
of someone else - but if it
does, and you have your helmet on,
it could save your life. Life is
worth living with a lot of choices.
Make one of those choices, to wear a
Helmet.

motorcyclist crashed into a young
Saligaokar riding *without
a helmet*, a
brand-new, Rs. 1,4 lakh,
Japanese-state-of-the-art,
super-fast, two wheeler.
He escaped miraculously, but it
took 12 stitches to close a large
bit of flapping skin on his foot.
Imagine if that injury was on his

We are only sharing with you our
own 'homskooling' efforts with our
2 teens, who are on the verge of
getting their riding/driving
licences. As we have said before,
such a licence is no guarantee
that we are either producing safe
riders/drivers in Saligao or that
we have safe driving conditions on
our roads. But as adults we have
a responsibility to do at least
this much. It will make our
village a safer place to live in.
