No only that, from an application point of view we don't check when somebody
comes back on schedule. We only need to check the schedule when we need to
send something. The schedule as such is something that isn't active, it's
just a table that is checked when needed.
For me the solution of the problem "sits" within a procedure for the people
and not for the application.

If you're not on duty and a host goes down then it's the person that is on
duty that is responsible to solve the problem. If he/she can't do it within
his/her on duty time then contact the person that is on duty after you.
Also a person who's "time" starts has to check the webpage for any down
entry's.

It seems like what we really need is just a special check whenever
anyone comes on schedule. When they come on schedule after being off,
then run a cycle (or make a note of it for the next cycle) and email
them of anything down, regardless of their settings.

That introduces a ton of problems, though. For example, I've got checks
that are set to notify me only if they're down 10 times - does the 10
get reset whenever someone new comes on schedule? That would be a pain
for programming.

This would mean that for each person we would have to keep a queue for
each
entry...don't think we're going to do that.

can you keep track of the state between don't send times...i.e. at 5pm
when
the send option period ends...you have 3 hosts down. at 6am when the
send
option period starts, salive looks at the state at 5pm and compares it
to
the current status, and emails the difference.
