SA is available from the tray icon under Terminal Services when running
as an NT Service if you run the application from its installation
directory i.e double click on the application - it will then show as a
tray icon. We only administer SA using TS. :)

Subject: [SA-list] SAlive service and terminal server

Hi,

When SA is running as a service, you can access the GUI on the console
using the tray icon. You are not able to start the SA exe a second time
on the console.

When you install SA on W2K server and logon through terminal services,
you get no tray icon, but you are able to start a second SA.

The SA docs only mention:
"Note that you cannot install SA through a Terminal Server session, and
when running SA as a service through Terminal Server, you cannot see the
tray icon."

Due to some strange effects I am now wondering
- Is it allowed to start the SA exe a second time?
- If this is allowed, what exactly happens?
You now have two SA's running. Is the interactive SA a front-end that
connects to the service?
  - If you push start/stop on the interactive SA, will this start/stop
the check cycle of the service? Or will all checks run twice (once by
the service, once by the interactive SA).
  - If you change the configuration (e.g. add a host), will the service
use the updated configuration?
- If this is not allowed, how are you supposed to change the
configuration when SA is running as a service? You can't activate the
tray icon in a TS session.
