Just reading a post on the mailing list and given what seems to be a true user community for servers alive, I'm wondering if everyone would like to share with the rest of us how we use Servers Alive and probably more specifically what other software we use with it to produce the sorts of results we're all after in replacing sonething like OpenView or Tivoli to create the sort of 'management portal' that Kevin ('Kevin Stone [EMAIL PROTECTED]) talks about. I think such a list that goes beyond the external checks on the sa site would be an invaluable tolls to the SA community. For my part (and please don't laugh as I'm fairly new to SA):
- Windows 2000 and NT resource kit, especially tools like qgrep
- Kix, perl and std batch scripting (the first two of which are endlessly useful)
- MRTG, RRD Tool and JFF Network Management System across Apache and PHP
- Kiwi syslog
- All logging to an SQL server
Now all of this is fairly separate at the moment but the plan is to bring it and more together into one 'portal' for our support staff
