Not personally but have being a monitoring sort of person I've been around the RRD and MRTG communities long enough to know this sort of thing is well accepted, as I'm sure most people could attest.

Aha you know Tobi....well tell him then :-)
Once it's in the official release I'll notify the RRD community via the "normal" way and then we should be added on the RRD webpages.

This is great news and I'm sure Tobi would be pleased, as will my MRTG install ;-)

In a beta build that we will release early next week you will have RRD logging (for the response times of UP entries).  With shortly after that the creation of the db and graphs too.
More info on RRD?         http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/

The RRD "stuff" for SA is currently tested by one customer on a small hostfile and it seems to work fine (the logging towards RRD).

(RRD logging will only be available in the enterprise edition of Servers Alive!)

Looks like we might have a good fit.  Right now I am concentrating on gathering performance data. (Customer requirement)

Looks like Michael Shook is concentrating on Uptime.  I bet if we put our heads together we could make a killer app.

Hi, Jim!  I'd definitely be interested.  I've been logging to SQL since v4 came out, and loving every minute of it.  I've written a low-end system to do some basic reading out of the log database - it's listed as the last template in my set at http://www.brentozar.com/salive/ - and I enjoy playing around with it.

I'm in the midst of closing on a house, and that site will be going down this afternoon for a couple/few days while I move over to the new place.  I'll give you an email after I get settled back in to see how things are going.

I am just now starting to log to a SQL Server database.

Before I embarrass my self by asking a bunch of stupid questions, is there
documentation on the various fields?  For instance what are the possible
values for status and what are the status descriptions?

Would anyone be interested in a collaborative effort?  I have already
normalized the data and created some insert triggers.
