Dirk, The "when" rule is set to "when 1 times down" on all my tests. I tried another test monitoring the alerter service. As usual it seems to work just fine. I set the alert to always and that worked as well. It seems that I don't get messages when they are real alerts, although I have missed the odd one when doing a test manually. When it's a real alert and not a test, I don't seem to see any attempt to send email in the debug log, yet when I play with the diskspace or service, I do get the log entry and message.
Thanks, Jason -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dirk Bulinckx Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 9:40 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [SA-list] Still having alert problems What WHEN rule did you use? Do you get an alert when you set the WHEN to ALWAYS? Dirk. Within each alert, you have to configure it to send you a message, have you verified that's it configured under the ones that you tested? This time I had scheduled downtime on our mail server, but left SA running to see what would happen. Again I didn't get any messages and the debug log doesn't show any attempt to send a email message to me. I have included my initial message below the following log messages.
