Dirk,

The "when" rule is set to "when 1 times down" on all my tests. I tried
another test monitoring the alerter service. As usual it seems to work just
fine. I set the alert to always and that worked as well. It seems that I
don't get messages when they are real alerts, although I have missed the odd
one when doing a test manually. When it's a real alert and not a test, I
don't seem to see any attempt to send email in the debug log, yet when I
play with the diskspace or service, I do get the log entry and message.

Thanks,
Jason

What WHEN rule did you use?
Do you get an alert when you set the WHEN to ALWAYS?

Jason,
Do you ever get email alerts? Within each alert, you have to
configure it to send you a message, have you verified that's it configured
under the ones that you tested?

Jesse.

Hi,

This is my second posting for the same problem (no response to the first
one). This time I had scheduled downtime on our mail server, but left SA
running to see what would happen. Again I didn't get any messages and the
debug log doesn't show any attempt to send a email message to me. I have
included my initial message below the following log messages. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Initial Message to Mailing List

Hi,

I have just recently purchased Servers Alive and seem to be having
inconsistent alerts. The following examples show that a disk exceeded its
limit, yet I never received a email message. The SA systray icon went red,
but as you will see in the log there was no mention of SA trying to send
email.

Build 4.1.1591 Enterprise Edition

Normal run with limit set to < 500MB

Thursday, April 22, 2004 9:18:03 AM Disk space checking on \\server\d$:
468.05859375 Mbytes free

The line was red and I had a stop sign in the systray, but I didn't get
emailed. I changed the limit to < 700MB and forced a check manually and was
alerted.

Forced check with limit set at < 700MB
