What is the make and model of your cable router as well as the make and
model of the cable modem. Perhaps a close look at SNMP OIDs will reveal
something. My question would be if the Router knows if it has access
available via the cable modem.

Subject: [SA-list] Cable access down then up??

I have cable internet access. I now know that I can check the DNS server
with Salive to see it the cable is down. I have a router that has both
cable/dsl access and dial-up. I can use Salive to switch when the cable goes
down. What can I check to see if the cable is back up??? I can't really use
the DNS check because if this is a local cable issue, the DNS will still be
up and now that I have dialed to the internet I will see it as good. My
local cable can still be down so I don't want to switch back.
What can I check to see if the cable is really back up????

Thanks

Gene
