Would the top level directory be OK, or would i need to install into the ORACLE_HOME/bin directory? Dirk. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2005 1:54 PM To: salive@woodstone.nu Subject: [SA-list] Oracle Check Problem All, I'm having a problem with oracle checks at the moment. I have been forced to move servers alive to a new server. the new server is running some oracle software and has the version 9i server software on it. I installed servers alive and also the oracle 8i client software as i need to be able to monitor version 7 databases as well. Basically, when i do a check against a version 7 database i get and error stating that connections to version 7 database are no longer supported. This is because servers alive is using the Oracle 9 software which doesn't support connections to v7. In the past when this problem has occurred i have installed the 8i client and all has been well, but this isn't working this time. I cannot remove the version 9 software as we are running a live database from it, and i need to be able to monitor v7 databases. Any suggestions would be appreciated Chris ============================================= Chris Osborne Senior DBA European Database Services Group, QEDI Direct Line: +44 (0)1506 813062 Fax: +44 (0)1506 813230 Mobile: +44 (0)7808 944882 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ============================================= ****************IMPORTANT--PLEASE READ******************* If this electronic message contains a zipped attachment and you do not have a decompression tool, you can download unZIP (for free) from: http://www.mk-net-work.com/us/uz/unzip.htm.
