No other idea.
What Servers Alive does is "ask" the OS for a instance of the
OracleInProcServer.XOraSession object and it's the OS that "decides" (based
on the "registration" normaly) what DLL will provide this object to SA. We
have no control over the DLL that should do this for us.

Hi Dirk,

I've reinstalled the client, regsvr32 still won;t register the dll and
servers alive is still unable to use the oracle 8 libraries to connect to
version 7 databases.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Just move the serversalive.exe file to the directory in which you have the
ORACORE files.

So would i remove and reinstall servers alive into the Oracle 8 directory?
Would the top level directory be OK, or would i need to install into the
ORACLE_HOME/bin directory?

A workaround is to run the serversalive.exe file from the Oracle 8 client
directory.

Subject: [SA-list] Oracle Check Problem

All,

I'm having a problem with oracle checks at the moment.

I have been forced to move servers alive to a new server.
the new server is running some oracle software and has the version 9i
server software on it.
I installed servers alive and also the oracle 8i client software as i need
to be able to monitor version 7 databases as well.

Basically, when i do a check against a version 7 database i get and error
stating that connections to version 7 database are no longer supported.
This is because servers alive is using the Oracle 9 software which doesn't
support connections to v7. In the past when this problem has occurred i
have installed the 8i client and all has been well, but this isn't working
this time.

I cannot remove the version 9 software as we are running a live database
from it, and i need to be able to monitor v7 databases.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Chris
