Looking at this part of the header:

"Received: from amedmlsatx03.amed.ds.army.mil ([192.138.43.3]) by amedmlsatx31.amed.ds.army.mil with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.1830);

X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.5.7226.0
Content-class: urn:content-classes:message
MIME-Version: 1.0"

I'd say Exchange server....

I tried both with no luck.   My IT dept is not much help.  I'm not sure where to find the host name.

Within the SETUP-ALERTS-SMTP-PRIMARY did you give a hostname (mailserver that is SMTP enabled) or did you select "DIRECT SEND" as option?

Dirk.

Subject: [SA-list] Basic set up

Hi,

I just installed the demo of Servers Alive to see if it would be a good option for our critical equipment within our department.  We had a situation where systems were not monitored and were down for too long.  Our IT department will not put our systems on a monitoring system as they do not see a need for it.

We see the need and will do this on our own.  Your product has helped us discover a down system already today, so we are very excited.  I would like to set up an alert for after hours, but am not having much luck.  I am using the SMTP email alert and am getting an error message of 11004 valid name no data record of requested type.

I'm sure I don't have the correct host name (as I'm not sure where to find it).  I've looked on the internet, but haven't found anything in terms where I understand what I need to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm not getting too far with our IT department.

Thanks in advance,

Lisa M. Smith
