>From the doc:
"Servers Alive can check the availability of an Oracle database. To do
this, the software uses the Oracle OLE object, which is part of the Oracle
client. Servers Alive supports Oracle 7, Oracle 8, 8g, 8i, 9i, and 10g
clients. With Oracle 9i and 10g, you must install the Oracle Windows Interface
included with Oracle. In most cases, a full installation of the
Oracle client is needed. When you want to check an Oracle database, you
must provide the name of the database, the user name, and the password
that are used to connect to the database."

I just went through this issue yesterday. I had installed the Oracle 9i client
on the server, but that was not sufficient. It worked after I
installed:
Oracle Windows Interfaces 9.2.0.1.0
Oracle Call Interfaces 9.2.0.1.0

I don't know if both are required, but it works fine now.

Oracle Database Checks Then it means that it's not able to get access to the
installed Oracle libs.
Installing them as the user running the service might help.

It shows the checks as unavailable. If you try to add a new one running as a
service it complains about missing OLE libraries.

I installed the Oracle client on the Server Alive server.

The database checks only seem to work if I run SA as an application instead of
as a service. Do I need to reinstall Oracle client using Admin account?
