Sounds interesting Richard. I'll take a look at that.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Barry,
What I do is send two alerts - one by regular email using SMTP built in
to
SA. For the second (that goes to my cell phone) I use the "Alerts -
Other
Mail" feature in Setup. I configure it to use a command line emailer
(open
source blatit) to modify the from address like this:

blatit -to 9055551...@pcs.isp.com -i %...@yourdomain.com

Then in my alert entries I send Other mail with the message body:
%p-%s

So alerts show up as:
Website-DOWN
Website-RUNNING

You could switch the order around to %s-%p if you like. Your entry
pretty
name must be set as one word for this to work. I never have to "read"
the
email on my phone since all the info I need is in the "from" address.
You
would have to use a properly authenticated smtp account and provide the
remaining parameters for blatit to work.

Correct Dirk,

which is why I thought there would be little I could do about it.

Just checking. Ill contact my service provider but I am likely SOL.

Thanks

And what are you using as alert?
And how did you configure the messagebody for that alert?

My guess is that you're using an SMTP alert and that you're using a TO
email
address that is send to a pager. And that the forwarding service is
putting
that emailaddress infront of the actual message.
