Ramin,
In order to create a SAM-FS (QFS) File System, you have to have RAW Disk. This cannot be done on an NFS Mounted Disk. Once you have created your SAM-FS File System, you can set it up to archive to Disk or to Tape or Both. The Disk Archive CAN be an NFS Mounted File System. I will send the manual in a separate e-mail. I am trying something new and having a hard time finding documentation or evidence if such a thing has been done. I keep getting mixed answers. A SUN solutions engineer told me that it couldnt be done because QFS has to be the fiels system at the back end. I have a Solaris 10 box that i have installed SAM-QFS. On the same box i have an NFS mount that has XFS on the disk. I understand in order to archive to a disk i have to configure the QFS filesystem on it. However I cant see the mount throught the SAM manager in the section of creating a new filesystem. Do you guys have some solid documentation you can point me to? I have looked at SUN's documents however its very basic. Thanks Ramin On Thu, Nov 12, 2009 at 3:43 PM, David Gwynne <loki at animata.net> wrote: why not?
