It's probably best to avoid too much reliance on unusual hardware to create
images, as it's unlikely all disks we'd want scanning would be owned by
someone with a Catweasel (or access to one).  Having Windows 2000/XP as a
requirement doesn't seem too extreme, and the scans should contain enough
detail for what we need.  I can adapt the MakeSDF project for scanning on
the SAM too, so users with DOS/Linux access can write transfer the normal
format images of the protected disks for unpacking on the PC side.

Thanks for the offer though - we might find a need for it yet :-)
