One more tidbit of info.. I see this in the logs when I jack up the debugging level..
resolve_hosts: Attempting host lookup for name PASMSNTAD1.xxx.xxxx.xxx<0x20> [2002/05/06 11:58:46, 3] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_out(897) Connecting to 146.25.59.32 at port 139 [2002/05/06 11:58:47, 3] smbd/password.c:server_cryptkey(986) connected to password server PASMSNTAD1.xxx.xxxx.xxx [2002/05/06 11:58:47, 0] libsmb/clientgen.c:attempt_netbios_session_request(3258) [2002/05/06 11:58:47, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(40) =============================================================== [2002/05/06 11:58:47, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(41) INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid 6796 (2.0.6) Please read the file BUGS.txt in the distribution [2002/05/06 11:58:47, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(43) =============================================================== [2002/05/06 11:58:47, 0] lib/util.c:smb_panic(2456) PANIC: internal error Note the attempt_netbios_session_request followed by the fault. Why the problem? This same install has worked fine for years and now has a problem? I'm convinced this is not a problem on the samba server itself, but I'm not sure what to look for on the other side. Hep! After upgrading to 2.2.3a from 2.2.2, we have a strange problem that's happening. When users try to map a drive, it asks for the username/password even though we're using server authenticaiton. There are lots of messages in the log.<machine name> files complaining about not being able to open the passwd database [2002/05/06 09:52:47, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:pdb_getsampwnam(1367) unable to open passdb database. [2002/05/06 09:52:47, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:pdb_getsampwnam(1367) unable to open passdb database. As far as I can tell from perusing the source, this is if you are using the smbpasswd files which we are not. We are using server authentication via a local PDC (win2k PDC, I believe). So why is it trying to hit the smbpasswd file? Any thoughts?
