Steffen I have gone to both sites using both MS Explorer and Netscape. The Sambar server is much slower than the Apache, but all pictures do load. It is not a browser issue.
The main picture 'sambarcity' is the slowest on Sambar server. The picture is a 'gif' set with transparnet background at the top. I noticed the picture is saved as 'interlaced', thinking that possible this is where Sambar was having the problem I ran a test off of my Sambar server. The page loads three images of sambarcity. Interlaced, non-interlaced and your orignal picture. They all load superfast. Next I checked your coding and noticed they are two different pages. On the Sambar server your code uses items like topic=1&PHPSESSID=17df9a25b3a58bdd44339f72e7bd3890 On your Apache server you only use topic=1 I am assuming the sambar example has PHP coding. I don't use it so I am guessing. But it appears that the Apache doesn't. Can I suggest running the exact same HTML coding on both servers to do the comparison.
