I tested both sites with empty cache MS IE & Opera and there is no
appreciable difference that I can tell.

I have also been running Sambar and Apache within the past week I have found
that Apache does not respond as quickly to virtual hosts as Sambar. It seems
that if you let apache handle all requests to a default site it is fine but
once you start mapping vhosts to different directories it slows down the
initial connection.
