Just say no to RedHat.. Personally there are many that disagree with RedHats decision on their new desktop.. You might say that they are taking the desktop choice out of Linux and using their own.
If you want a rock solid Linux distro thats loaded to the tilt you might check out Mandrake 9.0.. i686 kernel with the latest gnome or KDE... Several of my friends have installed both 9.0mdk and the latest Redhat and swear up and down that Mandrake runs much smoother and faster.. As for me, well I just like the way Mandrake is organized with their configuration and package managers. So, I don't reckon I'd hit the 10 machine limit. And today, with 2ghz machines with a gig of ram, speed shouldn't be an issue. I'm split between redhat (that scares me) and win2k to serve the files.... It will pick up every share it can find and workgroups and subnets won't contain it; so a traditional network we've done for years no longer applies without additional routing and rules. I've had to re-wire more than one network once XP got plugged in. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rodney Richison To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, November 04, 2002 8:07 AM Subject: [sambar] new machines {01} I am working up some machines for a customer and will hopefully talk them into sambar later. Are there issues with XP Professional that I should consider before I built the file server?
