There was a bug in the 5.3b2 like this, but it's supposed to be fixed in the 5.3b3... 

Restrict Relay has to be true. When you look in your mail.ini you should have 
something like this:

Restrict Relay = true
Restrict Relay IPs = 127.0.0.* 169.254.* 192.168.* 

This will allow only users on your LAN to send mail trough your server.
